Western Kershaw County

Elgin and Lugoff sit along the I-20 corridor northeast of Columbia, with Camden just up the road. The area mixes newer neighborhoods, older homes on larger lots, working land, and hunting tracts, and it is growing fast enough that a lot of our work is on ground that was woods five years ago.

Sandy ground sets the rules

Much of this part of Kershaw County is Sandhills: quartz sand that drains fast and holds almost no nutrients. Lawns thin and dry out, new plantings struggle without water at the root zone, and bare ground washes in hard rain. That pushes the work toward soil testing, irrigation built for sand with shorter and more frequent cycles, drip in beds, and erosion control on anything freshly cleared.
